No. You and your team keep full ownership of your IP, and the program doesn’t take equity. 

Agrifood and food science — climate-resilient crops, biological inputs and soil health, novel foods, sustainable processing — within a broader One Health approach. Adjacent biotech is welcome if there’s a clear food or agriculture application.

Not always. Researchers can apply with IP and a documented incorporation path. Startups need a registered company with owned IP. If you have skills but no IP or company, you can register in the BioMentorHub community instead and have the opportunity to be selected by a team.

The program is built for research that’s already validated, with a working prototype. If you’re earlier than that, the networking events are the right entry point for now.

For the researcher track, your IP needs to be published in a peer-reviewed venue or filed/approved as a patent. Unpublished or unfiled IP isn’t eligible yet, but you’re welcome at the networking events to plan your next step.

Yes. This is common for academic research. We work with you and your TTO to clarify ownership and structure a path forward.

You can apply, and you’ll only share what you’re comfortable disclosing. 

A Technology Transfer Office helps move university research toward the market. If your IP comes from a university, you’ll usually need its involvement to commercialize it legally — so we ask that you’re willing to engage it where needed.

Researchers and startups apply as teams, so you’ll need at least three members. If you’re an individual with skills to offer, you register in the community, and selected startups can reach out to you, though a match isn’t guaranteed. 

No. To pass into Module 2 you need either incorporation completed or a documented plan with a target date — a clear path is enough, not a finished company.

Yes. The incubator covers regulatory positioning specific to food and agri, alongside IP and commercialization strategy.

Register in the BioMentorHub community and list your skills. After the bootcamp teams are selected, your profile is shared with them, and they can contact you directly if they need your expertise. You decide whether and how to collaborate — as an advisor, co-founder, or external collaborator. There’s no obligation, and being contacted isn’t guaranteed. 

Yes, with limited spots — particularly startups interested in expanding into the West Romanian ecosystem.

Both. The networking events (June) and the Grand Demo Day (November, Timișoara) are in person; the incubator modules run online over Sep–Oct.

Depending on your track: a validated business model, an investor-ready pitch deck, a team, and a concrete next step from Demo Day — such as a letter of intent, a pilot, or an investment conversation.

You leave with a concrete next step and access to the BioMentorHub network. Continued collaboration depends on what you build during the program.
